Portrait of a Musician

As you know, wedding photography is our passion -  but we also love to shoot portraits.

Meet David’s nephew Anthony Perez, who is working hard to achieve his dream of success in the music industry.

Anthony raps and creates his own beats. He is extremely talented and creative.

Currently, Anthony is working with people in the music industry in Las Vegas and California. These images will be used for his demo CD.

Glamor at Red Rock Resort

This couple from Georgia had Las Vegas on their minds when they chose their destination wedding location.

The Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa has the “modern glam” look and feel that April and Kenn desired for their wedding and reception.

Family is very important to the couple, and Kenn shared a quiet moment with a loved one before the ceremony.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was when the couple saw each other before the wedding for the revealing. You can see the excitement and anticipation in April’s eyes.

Did I mention that April’s eyes are amazing?

April is very close to both her father and step-father. They both walked her down the aisle, and they could not hide their pride.

Red Rock Resort and Angelfish Meetings and Events worked together to coordinate the decor and the wedding details.

Palm Springs Photo Festival – Fire Fighters

On the second day of the workshop with Ed Kashi at the 2010 Palm Springs Photo Festival, I was privileged to be a part of several training exercises performed by the Palm Springs Fire Department.

My assignment was to create abstract imagery that engages the viewer.

This was a change in direction from day one of the workshop when we were challenged to create honest connections with residents in Salton Sea and Slab City.

I wanted to show different perspectives of action and ideas.

The men and women of the Palm Springs Fire Department were amazing. Their dedication to saving lives was apparent even in the training exercises. Their intensity seemed to fill every frame.

As everything was happening quickly around me, I also found opportunities to shoot what I love…portraits.

The image above is titled PRIDE.

Each fire fighter was nice enough to allow me to shoot a close up personal portrait.  Canon graciously provided a 16×20 print of this image, which I dropped off at the fire house as I was leaving Palm Springs.  I hope to have the opportunity to visit in the future and see the print hanging on the wall.

Ed Kashi’s workshop was outstanding. It reaffirmed my talent for connecting with people and creating interesting, revealing portraits. After viewing Ed Kashi’s Blog and his personal and paid multi media projects, David and I have become inspired to start our own personal projects.

Our projects will be entitled “Where Are They Now?”  I will be interviewing past couples to document how their lives have changed for better or worse since getting married in Las Vegas. Our past clients live all over the world, and David and I will be traveling to visit them. No location is off limits!  David plans to interview great baseball players of the past who did not reach the Hall of Fame despite their potential and impressive statistics.  We hope to spend the next 3-5 years gathering the stories.
